Police arrested three suspects following a dramatic 60mph chase through Manchester city centre .

Officers spotted a stolen Mercedes when it turned from the M60 onto the A5103 Princess Parkway at around noon.

A ‘stinger’ device was thrown across its path but the car, which had been stolen in a burglary in Macclesfield and which had false number plates, managed to speed away despite two burst tyres.

It drove off at speeds of between 50 and 60mph towards Manchester city centre, pursued by traffic police.

The chase continued on Medlock Street and the car was found later abandoned on Hulme Street near the Mancunian Way in the city centre.

Three occupants were seen running off on foot but were detained nearby.

One of them suffered a leg injury when he was intercepted by a police dog.

Two others arrested by officers on foot.

Three suspects have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and are now in police custody and due to be interviewed later today.

It is understood they will be questioned about a series of burglary offences.

“It was a great result,” one police source told the M.E.N.
