A PERVERT caught committing a lewd act while peering through the window of a house has had an appeal against his sentence rejected.

Joseph Bottoms, 27, was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for five years after being caught by police when a woman spotted him with his trousers down outside her neighbour’s house.

An appeal against his sentence – which included a three-year community order with a requirement to attend a sexual offenders’ program and a restraining order prohibiting him from standing outside the victim’s home – was rejected by a judge at a hearing at Chester Crown Court on Friday (November 8).

After his arrest, Bottoms told officers he had only been trying to see what was on the woman’s TV before deciding to commit the lewd act on a ‘crazy impulse’, a sentencing hearing at Macclesfield Magistrates Court was told in September.

Bottoms, pictured, formerly of Thorneycroft Street, Macclesfield, had admitted voyeurism at a previous hearing at the same court.

At the hearing in September, Debbie Byrne, prosecuting, said: “Mr Bottoms said in a police interview that he was curious as to what was on TV and so looked through the window. He saw her sleeping on the sofa.

“He admitted she was attractive. He said it was a crazy impulse.”
