A young motorist is fighting for life after a head-on road smash near Macclesfield. The 22-year-old man, from Alderley Edge, was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries yesterday when his red VW Golf was in collision with a van.
A 37-year-old man from Altrincham who was driving the Mercedes Sprinter Van suffered minor injuries after the crash, on Knutsford Road in Chelford.
Police were called to the scene, near the junction with Pepper Street, at 4.05pm
The VW driver was taken to Macclesfield General Hospital for emergency treatment where he remains in critical condition, Cheshire Police said.
Eastern CID Roads Policing Unit are now asking for witnesses to come forward.
