A man was seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash. The 23-year-old had to be cut free from the car by firefighters before being flown to Wythenshawe Hospital by air ambulance.

The accident happened on the A536 Macclesfield Road at 4.20pm yesterday.

Two other men, aged 18 and 19, were taken to Macclesfield Hospital with minor injuries.

Police closed the road in both directions for five hours.

Firefighters from Macclesfield, Wilmslow and Congleton attended.
