A grandmother transformed her home into a vision of hell for a special Halloween party.

Angela Stewart, who lives on Priory Lane in Macclesfield with her son, Jack, 17, works for a month kitting her house out to celebrate the spooky event every year and has even had a special wardrobe fitted to store all of her Halloween gear.

She invited friends and neighbours to visit and guests were met with ghosts hanging from the ceiling, gravestones that opened up as they walked past, body parts protruding from the ground, gruesome butchers and singing skulls.

Skeletons clung to the outside of the house while inside, family members and friends dressed as characters from Xbox game The Evil Within, scaring the living daylights out of all who entered their realm.

The grandmother-of-one, 51, who says she was inspired by a visit to the York Dungeon, said: “Halloween is very big in our house. We’ve been doing this for more than six years and it’s great for the trick or treaters - we had so many last night.

“It takes a whole day to put up the decorations and a lot of work but I get such a buzz from seeing everyone enjoy themselves and the little ones’ faces light up in their Halloween costumes.”

Son Jack, 17, designed the inside of the house this year and was joined by friends from Macclesfield College, including Adam Kennelly, dressed as Jason from the film Friday the 13th.

Even the nail technician’s four-year-old grandson, Riley, gets involved. She said: “He’s not scared as he’s grown up with it for years. The scariest stuff from the Xbox game was behind a door with a high window though so little kids couldn’t see in unless their parents let them.”

Outside was a gazebo with tables laden with Halloween treats for younger and hungrier guests, Halloween music and skulls singing Monster Mash.

And for those trick or treaters reluctant to enter the house, Angela and her daughter Rachael, 31, took them a selection of Halloween sweets.

Angela said: “I’ve already got plans for next year that involve projectors and more live characters so watch this space!”
