A manhunt has been launched by police after a Macclesfield man absconded from prison.

Daniel Ward, 34, was serving a sentence for wounding, assault and offensive weapon offences.

But after failing to return to HMP Leyhill following his release on temporary licence, police now want to find him.

Daniel, who was last seen in the centre of Bristol at 12.30pm on Thursday (March 19) is described as white, 5ft 10ins, slim, blue eyes, short light brown hair, clean shaven with a Manchester accent. He has tattoos on his left hand, including a small skull, and was last seen wearing a dark tracksuit and beanie hat.

Officers are carrying out numerous enquiries to try and locate Ward, and are appealing for the public to report any sightings of him.

If you see him, people are being urged to call 101 asking for Avon and Somerset police and then to quote reference number 28113/15.
