A man launched two terrifying attacks on his pregnant girlfriend, pinning her to their bed and biting her, a court heard.

Richard Pickles, 19, also punched his partner in the face – and in a separate incident threatened his brother with a kitchen knife after they argued, the court was told.

Pickles, of Heweston Crescent, Macclesfield, admitted assault at a hearing at Macclesfield Magistrates’ Court.

Kate Marchuk, prosecuting, told the hearing that Pickles attacked his girlfriend after she refused to kiss him.

She said: “She was lying on the bed in the room she shared with Richard Pickles in his parents’ house.

“He tried to kiss her and she told him to get off.

“He put his body on top of her and bit her on the left arm, he then bit her on the right thigh.

“The next day he bit her again on the upper arm. He told her to shut up. She was in pain and couldn’t be quiet. He then punched her in the face, cutting the inside of her lip.”

In a later incident, Pickles used a knife to threaten his twin brother, Simon, who had intervened during an argument with his girlfriend.

Ms Marchuk added: “Richard and his girlfriend were arguing. He was abusing her, so Simon intervened and said enough is enough.

“Richard took a ten-inch kitchen knife and threatened his brother with it.

“Simon manhandled Richard out of the house and called the police.”

Ruth Oakes, defending, argued that he did not know his brother and girlfriend were at the house when the later attack took place.

She said: “He had gone out and was not due to return home till late. He left early from work.

“His brother said that he did not think my client would use the knife.

“My client apologises unreservedly. He has been in custody for two weeks for breaching bail conditions.”

Pickles was given a 22-week prison sentence, suspended for two years, given a supervision order for two years, ordered to attend a building better relationships program and also had to pay £250 to the court.
