Macclesfield College's principal is leaving to run Stockport College.

He will join Stockport in April 2015, taking over from interim principal Ian Clinton

Mr Andrews took the reins in Macclesfield in April 2012 weeks after the college failed an Ofsted inspection.

In 15 months he took the college from ‘inadequate’ to 'good'.

Speaking of his appointment Mr Andrews said: "I’m delighted to be joining Stockport College and am looking forward to the challenge of working with students and staff to continue on the improvements already made.

“Stockport College has high ambition and aspirations for its learners and staff and I fully intend to lead the college back to ‘outstanding’ within the next few years.

“The college has a great tradition and track record of providing high quality opportunities for the people of Stockport and I very much want the college to be at the heart of the community.”

Chair of governors Louise Richardson said: “Simon comes with an excellent track record in  leading college improvement. His experience will be invaluable in leading us towards our goal of once again becoming an outstanding college.”
