Three air cadet squadrons are hosting a special open day to encourage new members.

As part of the 75th anniversary of the RAF Air Cadets, the squadrons in Bollington, Poynton and Macclesfield are opening the doors to encourage adults to volunteer and young people to sign up.

Lee Moore, wing shooting officer, said: “The three Squadrons are all well-established and offer a divers and engaging programme to their cadets. Currently the squadrons are looking for adult support to help maintain and grow cadet numbers.

"We are looking for volunteers to help once or twice a week on parade nights. In return for your time, the Air Cadets offer skills and personal development opportunities, training, qualifications and the chance to have a go at fun and challenging activities”

The free taster sessions are on Thursdays, September 22 and 29, from 7pm until 9pm.

Youngsters aged between eight and 12 should go along to the Bollington Squadron at The Slaughter House, Shrigley Rd, the Macclesfield Squadron on Somerton Close, off Somerton Rd, Weston Estate, or the Poynton Squadron, based at Lawrence Place, Poynton.
