Macclesfield actress Alice Barlow has appeared as a new character on Coronation Street.

Alice, 25, from Henbury, appeared as the sultry blonde waitress flirting with Luke Britton in the Bistro on Friday night.

Alice, a former student at Fallibroome Academy and who has been regularly appearing in the Express since she as a little girl, made an immediate impact on the show as the Bistro’s new waitress Nancy.

She was seen approaching Luke in the restaurant, who appeared to know her already.

“I thought you were going to call,” she then tells him. “You said you would.”

“I said I might,” he says.

“I thought you said we had a good time. It’s OK, I totally understand OK.

"So. Is that the girlfriend you were telling me about?” She says, referring to Luke's new love interest, Tracy Barlow, who had nipped away from the table.

“Actually, at this present time I’m not 100 per cent sure what she is,” he replies.

Nancy then flirtatiously tells him she “gets off at 9pm” as she walks away.

But, of course, poor Nancy didn’t count on Luke’s girlfriend being the formidable Tracy - who promptly gets her into trouble and sacked on her very first shift at the restaurant!

Alice first shot to fame in Hollyoaks, which she joined in 2009 as troubled Rae Wilson.

She ended up embroiled in a love triangle between Ste Hay and his gangster lover Brendan Brady, before she was ultimately killed off in 2011 by serial killer Silas.

Since then, fans were also pleased to see Alice showcase her singing skills on The Voice when it was on the BBC in 2013, where she got through to the battle rounds with The Script's Danny O'Donoghue as her mentor. But she lost out to eventual winner Andrea Begley.

Alice has also enjoyed roles in ITV’s Crime Stories, Drifters and Benidorm, as well as having a guest appearance in Casualty.

No word as yet as to whether Nancy may make a comeback to Corrie - but after such a positive fan reaction, we can but hope to see her cause more mischief on the cobbles in future.
