KING'S School students were jumping for joy after smashing the A-level results record.

More than half (54 per cent) of the total grades from the 128 students were A* or A.

This smashed the previous record of 47 per cent.

A quarter of the total grades (24 per cent) were A* and eight out of 10 grades were A*, A or B.

The overall A* to C pass rate was 95 per cent.

An impressive four students achieved four A* grades or better, 14 students achieved three A* grades or better and 48 students achieved three A grades or better.

The school will see 12 students go on to either Oxford or Cambridge universities.

Amongst the  high flyers was Charlotte Harrop who got achieved four A* grades and is going to read engineering at Queen’s College, Cambridge University.

She dreams of being a Formula 1 race engineer.

Edward Nathan achieved five A* grades and is going to study physics at Durham University.

Richard Southern also got four A* grades and is going to read medicine at Pembroke College, Cambridge.

Anna Townley achieved four A* grades and is going to read molecular and cellular biochemistry at Oriel College, Oxford.
