It’s seen deaths, marriages, divorces and betrayals, and one girl gets to learn all Coronation Street’s dirty secrets before they’re revealed on Television screens around the country.

That’s because 23-year-old Jenny Lippmann spends her days taking fans of the ITV soap behind the scenes, letting them in on filming secrets and backstage gossip as a studio guide at Coronation Street The Tour.

And the former Poynton High School pupil also helped welcome the tour’s 100,000th visitor recently, showing them around the studios before presenting them with champagne and a goody bag.

Jenny, of Spring Way, Poynton, said: “I saw a post in the Metro newspaper advertising the job. I love working with the general public so it sounded right up my street, excuse the pun.

“They were asking for dramatic people and I’m not much of a performer so I didn’t think I would get it. But since starting I have loved it, its very interesting and you get to meet loads of interesting people.

“All the guides give the tour in their own individual style, I am quite a bubbly character so I would like to think that I do it in an informative and fun way. I generally get really good feedback which is nice, people seem to enjoy themselves on my tours.

“Fans from all over the world come to the tour, a lot from New Zealand and Canada where the show is very popular. Unfortunately the shows been aired in New Zealand are two year’s behind the UK, I didn’t know so revealed to one of my visitors that Tina died. They were quite upset.”

After getting the job die-hard Doctor Who fan Jenny was invited to visit The Street’s set at MediaCity, where the show is now filmed, and got to meet the stars.

Jenny added: “I’m not a stalker but I’m definitely a bit of a celeb spotter so that was great. I have met most of the former Doctor Whos and their companions before. It also is better and shows your a bit more knowledgeable when you can tell guests of the tour that you have been to the actual set.

“The funny thing is that I am not actually a huge, huge fan of the show. It is the only soap I ever watched and I certainly take more of an interest now, but some of my colleagues are crazy about it, whereas I am more of a normal fan.”
