A fete will take place in the gardens of a historic hall.

The Wildboarclough Rose Queen Fete will take place in the grounds of Crag Hall, Wildboarclough. And this year’s Rose Queen is 11-year-old Isabella Waller, who is from the village, where her family have farmed for three generations.

All Hallow’s pupil Isabella is the third member of her family to be Wildboarclough Rose Queen as two of her aunties were coronated as well.

Isabella’s Rose Bud will be nine-year-old Emily Henshaw, whose grandmother and aunts are also former Rose Queens. The Rose Queen Fete is a traditional event and will feature high teas, a barbecue and beer tent as well as homemade produce, a plant stall, bric-a-brac, books, a coconut shy, children’s races and the notorious annual fell race, a gruelling ascent and descent of Shutlingsloe. Tandy Palmes, one of the organisers, said: “This year’s fete opener is BBC television’s Flog It’s very own Adam Partridge.

“While he won’t be carrying out any valuations at the fete, we will be holding our very own antique valuation game for all to try their skill at.”

The fete takes place on Monday, May 26.
