A cyclist has died on the Cat and Fiddle.

At 8.30pm on Wednesday emergency services were called to a collapsed cyclist found on the A537 Buxton New Road near to Bull Hill Lane.

Members of the public and ambulance staff tried to help the man at the scene but sadly he passed away.

The cyclist, a 34 year old from Buxton, was riding a black road bike and wearing a fluorescent tabard, white T shirt and black cycling shorts.

Cheshire Police are investigating the circumstances and appealing for any witnesses who saw the cyclist to contact 101 quoting incident number 858 of April 9.
