Angry residents are calling on the council to give them answers as to why Jasmine Park has been closed for so long.

They are set for a showdown meeting with Taylor Wimpey and council bosses in a bid to finally get answers as to why the park has been closed for so long.

Broken Cross councillor Louise Brown and Macclesfield MP David Rutley have also pledged to attend.

Chris Andrew, who lives on the development and is Jasmine Park Homewatch’s coordinator, said: “It is great that the Express is supporting us. We want answers as to why these facilities are still not open. After so many months we are no closer to learning the truth despite repeated attempts to discover why they are not in use.

“We now need as many as possible to attend the meeting.

“We can tell them personally how much our kids are missing out.

“We will also hopefully be able to hear exactly why the facilities are closed, and most importantly, when they are going to be opened.”

An online petition has also been set up by angry residents urging the council to reopen the park.

It has already been signed by more than 300 people. The meeting will take place at Broken Cross Methodist Church, Chelford Road, Macclesfield, on Friday, March 21, from 2.15pm till 3.15pm.

A spokesperson for Cheshire East Council said: “This Council wants to see a swift and positive solution for the people of Macclesfield so the play area and games area can be used. We are working closely with Taylor Wimpey to resolve this as the developer is in control of the site, not the council.”

Taylor Wimpey declined to comment but has previously said that it was working with the council to reopen the park.
