It was another record breaking year at Poynton High School Sixth Form with 167 Year 13 students celebrating their best ever achievement.
This year the school has the highest number of students achieving the top grades with more students than ever going off to university in September.
Its tradition of high academic achievement has continued with 10 percent of all A Levels being graded at A* and approximately a third of all A Levels being graded at either A or A*.
Twenty students gained straight A and A* grades in all of their A Level subjects and more students than ever secured their progression to places at Oxford, Cambridge and other Russell Group Universities.
Mr David Waugh, headteacher, said: “Once again our students have done themselves, their families and our school, proud.
“These fabulous results are the culmination of so many hours of dedication and determination.
“These results once again represent the school’s best ever A Level grades with more students than ever achieving the highest grades and overall pass marks.
“With approximately a third of all our A Levels being graded as A or A* it represents real life changing opportunities for our students.
“We have students now going off to study a truly awe inspiring range of courses at our country’s top universities, including medicine, law, dentistry, veterinary science and a vast range of other university courses. This is the culmination of many thousands of hours of hard work by our students and staff and I would like to wish all of our students the very best of luck as they move on to the next exciting chapter of their lives. Well done class of 2015.”
Among the Poynton students who excelled are Ellen Taylor who has achieved four A* grades and is going to Oxford University to read Archaeology and Anthropology.
Adam Waldron has achieved four A* Grades and an A* Grade in his A-Level Extended Project and is going to Oxford University to read Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry.
William Bedigan has achieved three A* Grades and is going to Durham University to read Mathematics who will also be joined by Callum O’Rourke who is going to Durham University to read Mathematics with Physics.
Phoebe Hulme has achieved Grade A* and two Grade A’s and is going to Birmingham University to read Dentistry.
Nicola Cherry has achieved a grade A* and two Grade A’s and is going to Birmingham to study Medicine.
Rachael Jones has gained straight Grade A’s in all of her subjects and is going to Bristol University to study Veterinary Science.
Emily Dacey has achieved two Distinction Stars and a Grade B and is going to study Outdoor Education at Liverpool John Moores.
And Amelia Sutcliffe has achieved three Grade A’s and is going to Leeds University to read New Media.
