ONCE again Macclesfield’s Family Fun Day and Party in the Park proved a great success.
Both were the brainchild of council officer Bill North who has an impressive record for creative thinking.
He is, by any account, a showman and has attracted a number of top class acts to the town over the past decade. If there’s one man who can liven up our town centres Bill’s the man.
Both Macclesfield and Wilmslow have pedestrian only main streets perfect for street entertainers. Right outside Macclesfield town hall is one of the most attractive cobbled squares in the country ideal for street theatre, musical events or specialist markets.
Mr North has the contacts and the expertise to organise quality entertainment with some support and encouragement he could make a real impact. Anything beats nothing which is what East Cheshire seem to be offering at the moment.
Bill North is not some flaky fly-by-night who just breezed into town, he has a sound track record with MBC for getting the job done and loves a challenge.
Every event he’s planned has been a success and he’s known to everyone in the town hall.
Come on, councillors, it’s a no-brainer. let’s see some initiative for all that council tax.
