HANDS Off our Hospital! That's the rousing message from the Express as we demand no cuts to the Accident and Emergency Department; the Children's Services, and the Maternity Services at Macclesfield Hospital.
And we need your support too - so join our fight to save your hospital and get involved with our huge campaign to keep the core health services we need in Macclesfield.
We are waging war against the potential cuts at the Victoria Road site and are asking you, our loyal readers of the Macclesfield Express, who deserve to have full access to healthcare on your doorstep to sign our petition and proudly display the posters in homes, shops and offices.
Macclesfield MP Sir Nicholas Winterton threw his weight behind our campaign and urged the public to get involved saying: "I am 100 per cent supportive of this campaign and delighted that the Macclesfield Express is representing the hospital in this way.
"I want to leave the health authorities in no doubt that the people of Macclesfield seek to retain all of the services at Macclesfield Hospital."
Tatton MP George Osbourne added: "I will fight at every stage . Vast sums of money have been poured into the NHS in recent years, paid for by us taxpayers, and we expect to see an improvement of local facilities not a reduction.
"I am glad to say that me and my fellow MPs are not alone in our opposition to this and that a campaign is now gathering momentum. We may be at the start of one of the biggest local battles we've faced in recent years. But I for one am ready for the fight."
