A DOG owner has been left distraught after her pet was stolen in broad daylight.

Heartbroken Sophie Speechley fears her pregnant Jack Russell Rosie may have been stolen for its puppies which were due two days after the dog was taken on Tuesday, July 21.

Ten month old Rosie was stolen from outside Sophie’s house on Dooleys Lane, in Morley Green - almost one year after her two other Jack Russells Tori and Ambrose went missing.

Now Sophie, 27, fears that history is being repeated as she finds herself once again pleading for the safe return of her pet and its puppies.

She says she is particularly worried because Rosie could need medical attention when she gives birth.

"All we care about is the safe return of Rosie and the puppies," said Sophie.

"We are sure that someone has taken her because there is no sign that she has dug her way out and there is an electric fence around the garden to stop her getting out on her own.

"I presume whoever has her has stolen her so that they can sell the puppies. She must be in a lot of distress and we are concerned for her and her puppies' health."

The young dog, which was stolen at around 1.30pm, is the granddaughter of Tori who went walkabout on July 23 last year with young Jack Russell Ambrose, Rosie’s dad.

Miraculously Tori turned up on the family doorstep out of the blue after 40 days and 40 nights on the run through the Cheshire countryside.

Curiously she returned on the same day Rosie and her siblings were due to be born, making her a proud grandmother.

But Ambrose is still missing.

Sophie said: "Our whole world came to a standstill, the whole of our lives came to a halt.

"We put everything on hold. We just lived and breathed it, called the RSPCA every day, visited Manchester and Cheshire dogs homes. If they had escaped from someone we didn’t want to miss them.

"Now we’re having to go through all that heartache again."

The theft has been reported to police and officers are also appealing for any information about the location of the dog.

Rosie is microchipped and Sophie’s address will show up on the computer if she is scanned by any vet in a 30 mile radius.
