A heart-attack survivor has created a video to help a NHS choir’s bid for the coveted Christmas Number One slot.

Social media expert Nick Entwistle captured images inside a hospital to show the importance of the NHS.

The video - which has been viewed tens of thousands of times - promotes the Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Choir’s A Bridge Over You which has already shot to the top of the charts.

Now the 27-year-old from Macclesfield is hoping a final push in sales with give it the coveted number one slot.

A Bridge Over You is a mash-up of Coldplay’s Fix You and Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel. Proceeds go to charities Mind and Carers UK.

Nick, of Catherine Street, offered to help after he suffered a heart attack in February.

He said: “The NHS means a lot to so many, and no more than me. I almost died and the NHS team at Macclesfield Hospital and then Stoke Hospital kept me alive. I wanted to give something back so got involved in promoting the campaign to get the choir’s song to number one.

“The whole point of the video is to try and make sure the NHS does not get privatised.”

Nick worked with colleagues at The Gate Films in Manchester on the video which was filmed in Lewisham Hospital in London.

The theme of the video is based on wedding vows - for better for worse, for richer for poorer.

Nick, who also runs social media firm One Minute Briefs, said: “This is to show we want to keep our NHS as it is, and many people say ‘I do’ in support of this.”

Nick said the response for the short film has been incredible.

He said: “Everyone who has watched it has been in tears as it shows just how many people use the NHS and how important it is to every single one of us.”

If the NHS choir want to get to the top spot they will have to battle it out with One Direction’s new single History, and Justin Bieber’s already released song, Love Yourself.

Nick said he is still hoping to get to number one.

He said: “It’s quite insane the way this has gone. But I think we will all be happy with wherever this finishes in the charts.

“I never imagined this is what would be happening this time last year.”
