"I'LL eat my hat if I win," said seven-year-old Emily Pasquale - before picking up first prize.

So it was just as well her Easter bonnet was made of hot cross buns.

Not that that helped too much for the pig-tailed Beech Hall School pupil, who said she wasn't particularly partial to raisins.

"I don't really like them," she said. "So I just had a nibble."

However, she does like chocolate, so she is looking forward to eating her first prize.

Emily's classmates thought the delicious creation was anything but half-baked. Brimming with enthusiasm they happily tucked into the hat.

Emily's Easter bonnet - which was also adorned with cuddly rabbits - earned her the title of super bunny girl with a difference.

"I was very excited and happy when I came first," she beamed after being presented with her Easter egg prize.

When it came to providing the edible accessories, her mum, Elizabeth - who had helped created the bonnet along with Auntie Roma - had just the job.

As the owner of Bread and Basil bakers in nearby Congleton she used her loaf and supplied the freshly made cakes.

"I could smell cinnamon all day," said Emily.
