A "WITTY, charming", and successful gun enthusiast has tragically died at the age of 55 and more than 100 mourners turned out to pay their last respects at his wake.

Terry Boucher, formerly of Pine Road, Macclesfield, was a doting granddad to four and a much-loved and respected character in The Nag's Head on Sunderland Street before he sadly died of a heart attack last month.

His many friends turned out at the funeral at Rainow Holy Trinity and attended the Nag's Head afterwards to raise a glass to their old mate.

Steve Hulse, 41, the landlord of the Nag's Head, said: "It was a great turnout for Terry - 100 plus - as he was a regular in the pub. He will be sorely missed by everyone."

The father-of-one developed a love of guns from the age of 15 when he went shooting with friends in the country. This began with full bore shot guns and then grew into a sportsman's fondness for all rifles.

Janet Boucher, 56, his wife of 38 years, said: "He loved his guns and used to keep a lot of shotguns until Dunblane happened and after that he kept .22 rifles."

She said: "He used to go shooting with the Congleton Pistol and Rifle Club for whom he became the secretary. He won so many trophies that we had nowhere to put them and had to throw some of them away - they take up so much room."

The Nag's head regular didn't believe in shooting live quarry and only ever stuck to aiming at targets.

The country boy also had a great passion for fishing and could often be seen at weekends sitting by a riverbank with a rod in one hand waiting for the next big catch.

Terry was born in Kerridge and attended St John's School and Waters Street in Bollington before becoming an electrician. He worked in many mills: Adelphi and Clarence before joining Kraft Foods where he worked for 26 years.

Janet said: "I met Terry in 1967 and he gave me the lift home from Sunderland Street to High Street in Macclesfield. He was very friendly, witty and extremely charming and we fell in love with each other."

Terry leaves behind his wife, daughter Tina, 36, and four grandkids Samantha 20, Michael, 18, Kayleigh, 15 and Martin four.
