A FUNDRAISER exceeded expectation when she more than doubled her cash target with a charity event in memory of a colleague.

Liz Moss, who works for Wilmslow social services, smashed her goal when she raked in £2,500 as part of a series of charity challenges to remember Diana Jackson, who died earlier this year, aged 51, from bowel cancer.

For Liz’s challenge, she set about organising a bumper accessories exchange at St Annes Church, and is more than proud of its success.

Liz said: "Diana liked a challenge and her husband asked us at her funeral to set ourselves challenges for charity instead of giving donations.

"My challenge was to raise £1,000 and I’m so pleased to have beaten it by so much with the accessories sale."

The sale attracted donations of belts, shoes, handbags and costume jewellery of all descriptions and shoppers had a good rummage.

Liz added: "We had some great stuff, and even set up a designer corner. Some people were leaving with four new handbags. It was absolutely fantastic."

Well-stocked raffles also contributed to the day’s kitty, which will all go to bowel cancer charity, the Bobby Moore Fund. And the challenges continue in the year after Diana’s death, with fundraisers picking their cause in each case.

A group of Liz’s colleagues have set themselves the mammoth task of a 177-mile walk through Wales and are currently knotching up the miles on regular trips away to continue their journey.

Liz added: "Diana was well known and loved in the community and this is all in memory of her."
