An email was sent to all Tory councillors ordering them not to discuss the cabinet sacking of finance director Frank Keegan.

Council leader Wesley Fitzgerald initially refused to give an explanation saying the removal of Keegan was an ‘internal matter’.

Now he has issued a statement, but not before speculation galore.

What do you suppose Coun Keegan knows to cause such panic among the party leadership?

Has he discovered CEC has been selling Sidewinder missiles to Iran?

Maybe they were trying to save jobs at BAE and thought the missiles were going to the Isle of Man?

It’s an easy mistake to make.

When council leader Fitzgerald issued his gagging order, he didn’t realise the attention he was drawing to the situation.

Is there a Taliban connection between Kabul and Sandbach?

Will Hamid Karzai be the next CEC head of finance?

Was Coun Keegan fired because he looks like a Bond villain?

These are the questions residents are asking.

Whatever the reason for Coun Keegan’s dismissal, the gagging order just made voters determined to find out.

Way to go, Wesley.
