Generations of former pupils and teachers at a Wincle Primary School gathered together to mark its 150th birthday.

The event took place the same weekend as the annual Wincle Fete, which welcomed hundreds of visitors to the village for the event.

Emma Heald, who helped organise both events, said: “It’s always a popular day and this year there were a phenomenal number of entries into the shows.

“On Sunday, generations of former pupils and teachers of Wincle School caught up with old friends at a lunch to mark the school’s 150th birthday.

“Peter Allen, the great, great, great grandson of Mr H.P Allen, the original headmaster who retired in 1893, was there, and will send his grandchildren to the school. That shows how close the community is here.”

The charity event featured country dancing, children’s games and a WI refreshment tent, as well as a dog show and fell run, the Trout Run, so-called because competitors get a fresh trout for taking part.

The race was won by Karl Darcy with a time of 39m52s, Helen Murray was the first lady home with a time of 48m44s.

The money raised will go towards the school.
