A disabled pensioner is to walk part of the Middlewood Way as part of a global fundraising mission.

Angela Kirby has set herself a goal of walking 155km spread across five continents, 13 countries and 31 locations, to raise money for research into Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

The 70-year-old who has the disease was born in Stockport but emigrated to Canada 50 years ago.

She has chosen to visit places around the world where she either has friends or family who will join her at the various locations helping her complete the schedule of walks.

She is planning to walk 5km from Poynton along the Middlewood Way with her brother, Chris Keegan, and other family as part of her challenge.

Angela said: “Knowing that we are all waiting for that elusive cure, I felt that while I am still able I should make a concerted effort to raise more money wherever I could, in whatever country I could, to fund MS research.

“As an added bonus I get to see and walk with my family and friends around the world.”
