THE EARLY arrival of baby Freya Dunn saved her dad from one of life's most embarrassing moments.

With the birth of Freya Louise on New Year's Day, he was spared blushes dressed as a pink fairy at a New Year's Eve bash.

Dad, Christopher, was due to turn up in a pink tutu and matching fish-net tights and was much relieved to ditch the outfit and call off the date due to the impending arrival of his daughter.

Mum, Wendy, who made the tutu especially said: "Freya was a little early and we had plans to attend a Perfectly Pink party at a friends's house. Christopher was somewhat relieved when I went into labour ahead of schedule."

Wendy and Christopher, both 35, of Princess Road, Wilmslow, were delighted with their newborn who weighed a healthy seven pounds and 12 ounces.

"She is just gorgeous." the new mum said.

Her aspirations for her child's future were simply to be "happy and healthy", she added.

Freya was delivered at the maternity department at Macclesfield District Hospital and is a welcome sister for Joseph, aged three.

She was among many excited parents in the labour ward who saw in the New Year watching celebrations around the world and the UK on television.

"It was a lovely atmosphere in the labour suite," Wendy, a company director, said.

She runs a market research agency in Wilmslow specialising in fast moving goods and has recently completed projects for Asda on its curry counter and on toilet rolls for a paper manufacturer.

Now its down to nappies for a spell, she said.
