An artist who was mentored by Salford painter LS Lowry has opened an exhibition of children’s work at Pownall Hall School.

Liz Taylor-Webb, from Wilmslow, was a fledgling artist in Manchester when she was introduced to Lowry and says he was instrumental in her becoming a professional.

Liz said: “This region is rich in talent and it’s a privilege to see such great talent nurtured at such an early age.

“I was lucky enough to be mentored by one of the great artists of our time and perhaps we might be seeing a Lowry of the future here.”

Every child produced a piece of artwork and had their own catalogue of the event with their name in to show visitors and parents.

Artwork included painting, sculpting and claywork and the two-day exhibition sold out.

Heather Henning-Lee, head of art and design, said: “We feed the children’s imagination which in turn supports their love of learning in every aspect of their education.”

Liz Taylor-Webb’s artwork is available on her website, or to view at The Unicorn Gallery in Wilmslow.
