FIVE other people have been jailed for a total of 30 years after being found guilty of crimes connected to the case.

Mum-of-two Julia Howard, 36, of Shaw Street, Macclesfield, was found not guilty of murder.

But she was convicted of assisting an offender for her role driving Beadell and Jervis away from the scene of the stabbing and was also found guilty of perverting the course of justice for driving Beadell from Macclesfield to Stockport so he could lie low and also deleting messages from her mobile phone.

She was sentenced to three years in prison for each offence to run concurrently.

Mr Justice Jay described Howard as a ‘feisty’ woman who could not be bullied around and someone “considerably more intelligent” than the other defendants.

He said: “I accept that Beadell needed to keep the knife concealed from you, as he did from Zain.

“You, on the other hand, were well aware of his criminal activities; indeed, you benefited from the lifestyle it was able to purchase.

“Beadell got into your car with Zain’s blood on that knife, and you assisted him – and Jervis, whom you must have known was also involved – in driving them away from the scene and back to Congleton and Macclesfield respectively.

“If this was not already serious enough, you either instigated or were personally involved in the deletion of data on your mobile phone.

“You were doing that to protect Beadell and for no other reason, as you were by driving him to Stockport the following day.”

Jake Powell, 24, formerly of Beech Lane in Macclesfield, admitted the perverting the course of justice, for his role burning clothes that it was claimed in court belonged to Beadell with Dale Thompson after the stabbing, and conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

He was jailed for five years and eight months.
