POYNTON Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Rob Massey, 24, is a familiar face in the borough village, helping to protect the streets and keep order.

He can be seen regularly patrolling Park Lane, but as a man who likes to keep himself in good shape, his hobbies stretch beyond Poynton, into some of the rural areas of Macclesfield.

A former Bramhall High School student, Rob is an avid Manchester United fan, and graduated from Manchester University before taking up his post as a PCSO in the winter of 2006.

The best thing about Macclesfield is... I do a lot of running and mountain biking out in the more rural parts of Macclesfield around Macc Forest, Bollington and Pott Shrigley, so I’d have to say those places.

The worst thing about Macclesfield is… Easy, the weather. As a PCSO I get to experience it first hand. Saying that, I recently worked the Christmas Festival in Poynton, it started snowing half way through and it was like the icing on the cake of a really good community event.

My favourite place in Macclesfield is… Even easier, Poynton! It’s an amazing village and there’s always something going on. The people are so kind and friendly, and there’s a real sense of community spirit. I especially like Higher Poynton, up by the canal and Middlewood Way. On a crisp winter morning it’s beautiful.

Ideally I would spend every day… Playing sport, I’m a bit of a fanatic. Football, tennis, swimming, running, mountain biking, or going to the gym. I’d do any of them all day everyday.

My favourite night out is… Going to a music gig with my friends. Really as long as my friends are there we could be pretty much anywhere!

The best holiday I’ve been on was… I was lucky enough to go on a family holiday to Barbados a couple of years ago. My whole family was there, the people are amazing, and it’s as close to paradise as you’ll get.

If money was no object I would… This could be a long list, I’ve got a lot of things that I want to do. I think I’d have to put a trip snowboarding in Whistler, Canada, at the top.

My one piece of advice would be… To all the young people out there, try your best at school. You don’t realise it until the time has passed just how much those qualifications will mean in the future, and what they can help you achieve.

My first job was… Working at Barton Grange Garden Centre in Woodford. I worked in the Christmas department selling trees and decorations. Suffice to say our Christmas tree at home is pretty special!

If I could do one thing again it would be… I don’t have any regrets, and I try and live in the present, but if I could do one thing again it would be my time at university. Not that I didn’t do well enough, I just enjoyed my time as a student so much I would love to do it all over again.

What I am reading now is… I’ve just re-read Angels and Demons by Dan Brown because it was so good. I love the whole series of books he’s written. I’m open to suggestions for my next book.

On my CD player is… Kings of Leon. Ever since watching them at V Festival this summer I’ve been hooked. They’re one of very few bands where you can pick any track on any album and know it’s going to be a cracker.

My favourite TV show is… I have loads. I love things that make me laugh like Mock the Week, Family Guy and American Dad. Although now the football season’s in full swing it would probably be Match of the Day.

My biggest inspiration has been… So many different people inspire me – lecturers at university, friends, my girlfriend and certain colleagues at work (I’m not going to mention any names or they’ll get big heads!). I try and take the best features out of everyone I meet and use them as much as I can, to be the best I can.

If I could invite anyone round for tea it would be… Liam and Noel Gallagher. I’m a massive Oasis fan so I’d love to meet them and I’m sure you’d be guaranteed an eventful night. I would probably get Gordon Ramsey to cook though!
