LOUISE Dilnot is a volunteer co-ordinator for Just Drop-In (JDI) Youth Info and Advice on Great King Street.

The 23-year-old settled in Macclesfield two years ago after finishing her studies in Lancaster.

Originally from Oswestry in Shropshire, she now lives on West Bond Street with her dog Pip.

She recruits, trains and supports volunteers at the Drop-In as well as being in charge of JDI’s newsletters, leaflets and publications – and all at the tender age of 23.

When not increasing the amount of volunteers at JDI, creative-mad Louise spends most of her time experimenting with paints and fabric, or bargain hunting at car boot sales and charity shops.

If you are interested in volunteering with young people at Just Drop-In, like Louise, give her a call on 01625 665079.

The best thing about Macclesfield is... When I first visited Macclesfield to see if it was somewhere I would like to live I fell in love with the view from Mill Street over towards the Hovis Mill with the hills in the background. I liked the mix of old architecture against the countryside. Also, I love that spiral staircase in the HFT charity shop, it’s not often you see something so ornate in a little shop.

The worst thing about Macclesfield is... Maybe the worst thing would be the number of good, honest young people in Macclesfield who I see each day who really need help and support. That’s why I love my job. It’s great to be part of an organisation that helps so many people on a daily basis.

My favourite place in Macclesfield is... El Rio Mexican Restaurant. I have had so many good times there and I really love the food.

Ideally I would spend every day... Doing something different from the day before, which is lucky because I don’t get two days the same at Just Drop-In. Each of the volunteers are different and bring something unique to the youth centre. Equally, the young people that come through our door are all individuals and need an individual approach. It certainly keeps me on my toes!

My favourite night out is... Well the best nights out are the ones you don’t plan – they are the ones which you laugh the most on and remember the longest.

The best holiday I’ve been on was... I went to Tunisia in October and it was wonderful. The weather was great and there is so much to see and do. One week was not enough so I think I will have to visit again in the future. Other than that I have had loads of great holidays in Devon and Cornwall as a kid in our old 1970’s caravan.

If money was no object I would... Travel the world, volunteering in different countries and for different causes. I would love to experience different cultures and sample another way of life.  I would also have lessons to learn another language as that’s something I have wanted to do for a while.

My one piece of advice would be... Look after the pennies and the pounds take care of themselves. This is really true, I was told this as a kid and it stuck with me, which is useful when working for a charity. Just Drop-In needs all the pennies and pounds we can find to help the young people.

My first job was... It was working in a pub kitchen. It was only for two hours a week and I got £6. I remember thinking I was quite rich!

If I could do one thing again it would be... I would probably have done a different degree. I enjoyed studying geography, but if I could go back I would choose religious studies or politics.

What I am reading now is... I’m reading The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. It has been around for a while so I’m going to have to finish it before someone ruins the end for me! I’ll watch the film when I’ve finished the book because I’ve heard it’s as good as the book.

On my CD player is... I don’t use CDs, just MP3s, so I don’t ever get a whole album, just tracks here and there that I like so it’s a total mixture. But usually stuff I can dance around to.

My favourite TV show is... It’s very geeky but it’s got to be either Doctor Who or Lost. I think it is mainly because David Tennant is a legend.

My biggest inspiration has been... It might sound very cheesy but I feel I have learnt a lot from my grandparents. They always put family first and make us all appreciate each other. I think they will have a huge impact on the way I will run my own family in the future.

If I could invite anyone round for tea it would be... That’s easy. It would have to be Prince Harry as, after all, he is the fun prince! Failing that, Barack Obama would be interesting; I would love to know what his plans are going to be for America.
