SIR Alex Ferguson gave a team talk youngsters will never forget when he dropped in at their school.

The Manchester United boss visited King's School in Macclesfield as part of its 500th anniversary celebrations and to help promote girls' football.

He also revealed that despite speculation he might go on and on as the United boss, he has no intention of emulating veteran Newcastle manager Sir Bobby Robson, who is still going strong at the age of 69.

Sir Alex - who is famous for his "hair dryer" shouting at his own players - was all smiles as he posed for pictures with the delighted youngsters.

But Sir Alex had a tough message for youngsters hoping to make it in professional football.

The inspirational manager told the youngsters: "Be good at what you do, don't be a part-timer.

"Always try to be as good as you possibly can be at whatever you do. If you want to be a top player you must practise, practise, practise."

Liz Spence, King's School girls' principal, said: "It was a marvellous occasion and we hope it has done something to promote girls' football. Sir Alex's visit will certainly motivate our pupils to do their best."
