A family of 10 who face being made homeless are pleading for help finding a new home.

Stuart and Debbie Parkinson and their eight children have until April 23 to leave their home on Wiltshire Close, Upton Priory.

They need to relocate after the property they rent privately failed a council inspection and was deemed unsuitable.

But despite spending weeks looking for somewhere new, the Parkinsons have struggled to find a place in the town suitable for their children who are aged between 18 months and 17 years old.

Now the terrified family have turned to the Express to appeal for help finding somewhere to live before they are made homeless.

Debbie, 40, said: “We have spent every waking hour of the last six weeks trying to find a place for us to stay in the town.

“It has been the most stressful experience of our lives.

“Four-bed properties are hard to come by. A few times we’ve come close, only to lose it to another family, then there have been some landlords who have refused us because of the number of kids.”

Debbie, who grew up in Sutton, and Stuart, 41, from Upton Priory, have been together since they were teenagers.

Their eldest is George, 17, followed by his brother Charlie, 15, and sisters Isabelle, 12, Chloe, nine, and Ruby, six.

The three youngest are Edward, five, Mollie, three, and little Seth, 18 months.

Unfortunately Mollie suffered problems at birth and as a result struggles with celiac disease, hyper mobility disease and learning disabilities.

Stuart works at Adamley Mill in Langley while former childminder Debbie is a stay-at-home mum. Debbie said: “When the council came round to look at the property they found that the loft conversion where three of the boys sleep didn’t have building regulation approval. It meant the boys shouldn’t be in there.

“When the landlord was told about this he issued us with an eviction notice giving us eight weeks to leave. It knocked us for six. Since then our lives have been a nightmare.

“We are desperate to stay in the town near the kids’ schools, but it has got to the point where we’ll take anything not to become homeless.”
