Macclesfield woke up to a rare sight of clear blue skies and dazzling sunshine this morning and forecasters say temperatures could reach highs of 29desgrees by this afternoon.

But police are urging the public to resist temptation to leave all their windows and doors open and prevent sneak-in burglaries - even when they are at home.

During warm weather, there can be an increase in the number of opportunist ‘sneak in′ burglaries, where criminals take advantage of homeowners who have left windows open, patios unlocked and doors ajar.

Cheshire Police want to remind the public of Cheshire to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to us.

Residents should take note of the following advice:
• Make sure that all windows are closed and locked, even when you are at home or in the garden.
• Use the security measures on modern windows, which allow them to let some air in but still be locked.
• Keep all valuables out of the line of sight of prying eyes. Never put car keys or purses on window sills or in view of a window or door.
• Always avoid keeping large amounts of cash in your house.

If you have any information about burglaries or see anyone acting suspiciously in your community, call Cheshire Police on 101.
