Staff at a clothes store donned a refreshingly new style of headwear in aid of charity.

Workers at the White Stuff shop, on Water Lane, Wilmslow wore tea cosies on their head as part of National Wear A Tea Cosy On Your Head Day.

They bagged more than £400 for their local charity the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust in Lymm. Customers also got involved with the chari-tea fundraiser by buying White Stuff tea cosies and sharing snaps of the unusual head gear online.

And staff say they were shocked by the public support for the campaign.

Hannah Bryers, lead supervisor, said: “It went really well. We had a few people that came in with the cosies on their heads and got in the spirit of things. Staff wore tea cosies all day long and myself and my colleague Amanda actually knitted our own cosies – Amanda’s was a giant cupcake and mine was a small cupcake with lots of Jammie Dodgers down the sides.

“Some of the customers had tea cosies already, they came into the store and popped them on.

“Some customers looked at us like we had completely lost it but that wasn’t too surprising considering, it was all in the name of a good case though.”
