Children have recreated London’s Armistice Day tribute to the First World War by planting a field of poppies.

Pupils from Marlborough Primary School have created a display of 180 ceramic flowers at the school on Tytherington Drive, Tytherington.

The Field of Memories exhibition, which has been on show for a week ending on Thursday, was inspired by the stunning display at the Tower of London last year.

Like the one in the capital, children will selling the poppies at the end of the exhibition for a minimum donation of £3.

All money raised from sales, combined with the cash taken at the launch event, will go to the Help For Heroes charity.

Lucy Broadhurst, teacher and organiser of the exhibition, said: “Over the last six months the children of Marlborough Primary School have been creating ceramic poppies to commemorate those who have fallen during war.

“The process has helped our children connect with the events happening across the country to commemorate 100 years since the start of the First World War.”

“Over 180 beautiful poppies will be on display for one week.”
