A WILMSLOW charity shop which coins it in for Cancer Research is to be given the gold star treatment.

The Water Lane shop which counts donations of Lacroix suits, Armani, Hugo Boss and Moschino as standard stock is to get a make-over in recognition of its cachet.

It is to be part of a premium pilot scheme along with only two other shops in the country to be transformed into a charity boutique in June.

The windfall follows recognition that for its size the Wilmslow store is a top earner for the charity.

Big price tags in the past have included £300 wedding dresses, £200 for a double bed and £150 Hugo Boss suits.

Many of the goods are not even used. The wedding dresses were end of the line stock, and the bed came from a Bovis show home.

The pick of the pack in private donations though was a bag stuffed full of exclusive Christian Dior designs.

And recently the shop sold a Louis Vuitton bag for £125.

Despite the unusually high price tags manager Dawn Farrimond said customers were happy to pay top ticket prices.

She said: "No two bags are the same and you never know what you're going to get when you open them.

"Obviously it is high prices for a charity shop but we get that for them."

Such is the demand for the high-class hand-me-downs the shop even has a client list on red alert.

So from June it will be out with the plastic bags and in with designer-style card bags, extra fitting rooms and a one-on-one premium service.

Dawn said: "I'm really pleased. It means the shop will get refurbished and it desperately needs it.

"We all work hard and it's an achievement for this shop, considering there's over 600 in the country."

To help its modernisation the shop is also appealing for a computer to enable the staff to go online and boost their fundraising efforts.

The shop will be closed from June 13th to 20th.
