Recent cases from South and East Cheshire Magistrates Court:

Matthew Kevin Gibson, 28, of Byron’s Lane, Macclesfield, admitted assault by beating and criminal damage. He was jailed for 16 weeks.

Joanne Louise Smith, 29, of Beech Lane, Macclesfield, appeared in court charged with shoplifting and perverting the course of justice. She was remanded to appear at Chester Crown Court on February 10.

Benedicto Honrado Perez, 39, of Catherine Street, Macclesfield, admitted assault by beating. He was ordered to do 60 hours unpaid work, ordered to pay £60, and given a restraining ordered preventing him from contacting his victim for two years.

David Charles Bamford, 53, of Hayle Close, Macclesfield, admitted assault by beating. He was bailed to attend court on May 5 for a newton hearing to establish the basis of his plea.

Christopher Craig Haslam, 34, of Gawsworth Road, Macclesfield, admitted two charges of theft and breaching a suspended sentence.
He was jailed for 14 weeks.

Ben Andrew Mellor, 36, of Keats Drive, Macclesfield, denied driving without care and attention, wilfully obstructing a police officer and resisting a police officer. He was bailed to court on May 19 for trial.

Leigh Alan Welch, 42, of Brookfield Lane, Macclesfield, admitted drink driving and failing to stop after an accident. He was ordered to complete 100 hours unpaid work and banned from driving for 26 months.

Simon Andrew Tallen, 30, of West Street, Congleton, admitted three charges of assault in Macclesfield, criminal damage and assaulting a PC. He was given a 16 week prison sentence suspended for 12 months with supervision. He was also fined £310 and ordered to pay his victims £250 compensation.

Charlie Doherty, 31, of Peel Street, Macclesfield, admitted destroying a police codes of practice book. He was fined £80.

John Whitmore, 20, of Peel Street, Macclesfield, admitted possession of two wraps of cannabis and driving without insurance or a licence. He was fined £80 and was banned from driving for 12 months.
