Voters will go to the polls on Thursday in a by-election in Cheshire East. The poll in the Crewe South ward of the council had to be cancelled during May's local elections after the death of Liberal Democrat candidate Betty Howell.

The vote was rescheduled for Thursday June 16.

A total of six candidates will contest two available seats in the ward. The Liberal Democrat candidates are now Robert Icke and Lisa Smith.

Representing the Conservatives are Jubeyar Ahmed and Steve Turnbull. Standing for the Labour party are Dorothy Flude and Steven Hogben.

The count will take place on Thursday night at the Municipal Buildings in Crewe.
