Ken Edwards - Labour

Aged 68 , retired secondary school head. Lives in Bollington  Ken has worked in education all his life and is currently a Governor of Park Royal Community School and Ivy Bank School in Macclesfield.

"If elected I will work hard to represent the interests of my constituents, I will work hard to ensure there is are excellent schools for children because without a first class education a child will miss out on what they can achieve in the future. If our community in Macclesfield is to thrive and grow we need active, intelligent and well educated young people. There is no more vital local service that Cheshire East can offer."

Janet Jackson - Labour

Aged 60. Works for a major pharmaceutical company. Lives in central Macclesfield.

"As a former Macclesfield Borough councillor, I have worked hard to regenerate the town centre and I will continue to press for improvements. I think that the establishment of a Town Council would also greatly help matters. I have always championed ‘green issues’ and understand the importance of these in planning decisions."

Tony Ranfield - Conservative

Aged 69, Knutsford. A member of Macclesfield Borough Council from 1999. Served on several Committees and was Cabinet Member for Leisure & Communities. Since the formation of Cheshire East Council, has sat on all main. Committees including Children & Families, Scrutiny and Licensing. Retired after a busy life in manufacturing and distribution, also also Chairman of the Macclesfield Silk Trust, Trustee of a Youth Club and Governor of two Primary Schools.

Malcolm Thomas - Conservative

Aged 62. After a long and successful career in Engineering, interested in playing a role in the community and feels it is vital to provide a strong voice for local residents. Currently involved in U3A and local road safety campaigns, am vice Chairman of the local branch of the Royal British Legion and am keen to support our armed forces and their families.

David Gooda - Green

David lives and works in Macclesfield. Chair of Cheshire Peaks & Plains Housing Trust.

"My priorities if elected will be to address the shortage of affordable housing; to provide support for the local small businesses; to influence the town centre redevelopment; and to enhance educational provision in Macclesfield."

John Knight - Green

"Working for a trade union research department, I've long been a campaigner for social justice. I'm also involved with Macc2020, the town’s Transition Movement, acting as co-ordinator for their Transport working group. I'd like to see the town centre developed as a space for people not cars, for local businesses not big business."
