LESS than a fortnight after the tragic death of a biker in Prestbury, another collision has occurred on the same stretch of road.

Granddad-of-three Peter Leach died after the incident on Bonis Hall Lane on Sunday, April 19, which sparked fresh calls to reduce the "inherently dangerous" road’s speed limit.

Tuesday moning, April 28 a woman drove through a hedge, close to the scene of the fatal accident, but was not injured, police reported.

Retired company director Chris Sheppard, 65, who lives nearby, claimed last week it was "just a matter of when" there would be another collision on Bonis Hall Lane. He was sadly proven right yesterday.

And Mr Sheppard’s campaign to reduce the road’s 60mph speed limit, was backed by Cheshire East Councillor for Prestbury, Paul Findlow.

Coun Findlow said last week there were "serious concerns" about Bonis Hall Lane, and added: "It’s inherently dangerous, and I’m asking the highways engineer responsible to address it."

A Cheshire Police spokeswoman confirmed officers were called to a collision on Bonis Hall Lane at 8.05am on Tuesday, April 28.

She added: "A woman driving a grey Ford Fiesta left the road and went through a hedge, near police signs for a previous serious road collision. The woman was not injured."

A spokesman for Cheshire East Council, who are responsible for the roads in Prestbury, said that all the county’s A and B roads were being reviewed. He added: "I can’t speak for Bonis Hall Lane in particular, but we are working through the system at the moment and any changes that need to be made on these roads will be prioritised and implemented."
