The council has been able to successfully find cover for some of the bus routes lost due to the sudden closure of a coach firm.

GHA Coaches ceased trading on Wednesday leaving widespread disruption to a number of routes.

Cheshire East Council has is bringing in urgent alternative transport on affected routes and has confirmed that a number of routes which have been cancelled as a result of the closure will be back up and running by Monday, with some starting sooner.

A spokesman for the council said: "We are currently working with operators to provide cover for bus services across Cheshire East to replace services formerly operated by GHA Coaches. Further to yesterday’s update, we are pleased to announce that the following services will be running from the dates below. Timetables will remain the same unless specified. It is possible, however, that some journeys may be missed. We will continue to work on the other routes to ensure as much of the bus network as possible is running."

Routes reinstated from today, July 15:

19 - Macclesfield to Prestbury - operated by High Peak.

From Saturday, July 16:

200 from Manchester Airport to Wilmslow will be run by Howards.

From Sunday, July 17:

130 - Macclesfield to Manchester - Stagecoach will operate route

27 - Macclesifled, Macclesfield Hospital, Chelford, Knutsford - operated by High Peak

From Monday, July 18:

87 between Congleton and Macclesfield will be opereated by Arriva.

88, which runs from Altrincham through Wilmslow and Knutsford, which will also be operated by Arriva, will run hourly from 6.40am.

9 - Moss Road estate circular, 10a - Macclesifeld to Bollington, 38 - Macclesfield to Crewe, will all be run by Arriva.

200 service, which transports pupils to Wilmslow, operated by D&G.

The council is currently in discussions regarding the Flexirider service and 78 service (Saturdays).

D&G Coaches, which employs 400 staff and has bases across the region including in Macclesfield.

Administrators will be appointed to look into GHA Coaches which is one of the largest independently owned bus and coach operators in the UK.

It operates 230 vehicles from six depots.

Its head office and central repair facility is located in Ruabon, near Wrexham, and the firm has additional depots at Ruthin, Tarvin, Winsford, Macclesfield and Shrewsbury.
