MACCLESFIELD Town have been handed a huge financial boost after confirming brothers Amar and Bashar Alkadhi have ploughed £100,000 into the club.

The London-based businessmen have bought 100,000 £1 shares and they have not ruled out further investment in the Silkmen.

Their approach to directors came as a bolt out of the blue but it appears the brothers have family and business ties in the East Cheshire area. They have both been appointed to the club's board of directors.

The Alkadhi's investment secures the future of Macc Town after a year of turmoil and will hopefully provide a platform for the club to battle their way out of the relegation zone.

"We're very excited about our involvement, it's a very good club," said Bashar Alkadhi.

"My brother's partner is from the area and we both worked up there a while ago. We're passionate about football and have been looking to get involved for a while. When this opportunity came up we liked what we saw.

"Macc has a good board, good manager and we play nice football. We're looking forward to getting involved."

The Alkadhi's are involved in the telecommunications business and their firm, Allied TC, is based in West Acton in London. And they are clearly serious about their investment.

"The money is all relative," added Bashar. "This is an initial investment. We haven't been asked to put more in yet and we'll take it one step at a time. I hope our investment is seen as positive and I hope it gives the fans, players and management a lift.

"We're confident we will avoid relegation, from what I saw at Oxford on Saturday I was impressed. We're not going to promise promotion and things like that, we just need to consolidate now and push on next season. I think we have a very good team but we will be looking to strengthen. We'll try to be at every match and are in close contact with chairman Rob Bickerton and the board.

"The friendliness of this club really comes through and it is very well run. Whatever we can do to help to help this club we'll do it."

The new investment has already enabled boss David Moss to sign Steve Macauley and Matthew Haddrell as the Silkmen continue their bid to avoid relegation - and two more signings are expected before Thursday's transfer deadline.

None of these transfers would have been secured without the Alkadhi investment.

Macc Town chief executive Colin Garlick was delighted with the Alkadhi's shock approach.

"This is fantastic news for the club. Amar and Bashar are both very nice guys and are hoping to really make a difference to the future of Macc Town," said Garlick.

"They initially approached the board after becoming aware of Macc through East Cheshire family connections.

"At first we were a bit sceptical, but once we'd met Amar and Bashar we were very impressed.

"They are certainly not glory-hunters, but their investment of more than £100,000 is going to give everyone a boost.

"Their's is a truly positive input, and players, staff and supporters of Macclesfield Town will benefit from their involvement.

"Already the funds Amar and Bashar have provided has gone a long way towards the signings of Macauley and Haddrell.

"Thanks to this extra cash we're also looking at the possibility of further ground refurbishments in the summer."

Both brothers will be at Saturday's crucial clash with Kidderminster at Moss Rose and they appear certain to get a warm welcome from the Silkmen faithful.

Team manager David Moss is also delighted with the news.

He added: "The Alkhadi's involvement has come as a real bonus for me. It has enabled me to bring in Haddrell and Macauley on a permanent basis, and I am still hopeful of signing another striker before the transfer deadline on Thursday."

Both brothers will be at Saturday's home clash with Kidderminster and they appear certain to get a warm welcome from the Silkmen fans.
