POLICE have confirmed that a body found in a marina in Plymouth was Macclesfield student James Webb.

Emergency services attended Sutton Harbour Marina at 6.15am yesterday after a report of a body floating in the water.

A police officer entered the water to rescue James, 21, before he was treated by paramedics at the scene.

He was taken by ambulance to Derriford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

James was a student at Plymouth University.

Detectives are now investigating how James came to be in the water.

Police said they are treating the death as unexplained but not suspicious.
