CRUSADING vicar Janet Fife has faced down many forms of intimidation since she moved to the Upton Priory Estate - but never has she been the victim of such a bizarre and inexplicable crime.

A twisted thief has been captured on CCTV unscrewing the lid of her compost bin before stealing a metal bin from the front of her vicarage.

Three days later in broad daylight the bin was dumped outside the vicarage stuffed full of burnt dog excrement and charred copies of the Macclesfield Times - dated February 2 this year.

The parson, whose brave stand against thugs and yobs in her parish has made her a target, has suffered repeated attacks on her home.

Defiant Janet said: "It is just weird and like all weird things it is a little bit unsettling but I am not the sort of person who gives up easily."

Rocks and bricks have been thrown at the vicarage and a crossbow bolt fired at her bedroom window.

The courageous cleric, who has given the CCTV tapes to police, famously used one of these missiles to prop up her bird table.

Recently it has been much quieter on the troubled estate but last week events took a sinister and strange turn.

At 11.15pm on Sunday, April 9, an intruder was recorded clambering over a 6ft wall and into Janet's back garden.

The prowler unscrewed the lid, took the bin and walked nonchalantly away carrying the church property under his arm.

On Wednesday, April 12, at 2.20pm a man driving a hatchback dumped the bin.
