Car owners have been warned to be vigilant against thieves.

It comes after a spike in thefts from cars in November.

Most of the offences were committed overnight with criminals smashing windows to gain entry inn half of cases.

Police are urging vehicle owners to ensure they always lock their doors and make sure valuables such as bags, holdalls and sat navs are not on show.

Inspector Steve Griffiths has promised to step up patrols in the areas commonly targeted.

He also urged residents to report the sound of smashing glass or anything suspicious.
