A salon owner was caught drink driving after a celebration at work.

Lynn Mary Banks, 57, drank wine at her beauty salon to mark a member of staff’s last day, a court heard.

She then got behind the wheel but was pulled over by police because of the manner of her driving, prosecutors said.

Banks, of Beech Lane, Macclesfield, admitted drink driving at Macclesfield magistrates’ court on April 8.

She was banned from driving for 12 months.

Debbie Byrne, prosecuting, said: “At 4.45pm on February 17 PC Robinson pulled over the defendant because of the manner of her driving.

“He smelt alcohol.

“A breathalyser reading was above the limit and she was arrested.

“A further blood test recorded 105mg which is above the limit of 80mg.”

Ruth Oakes, defending, said: “She had recently opened a beauty salon and it hasn’t been doing so well.

“A member of staff had given in her notice to leave.

“They decided to have a little celebration and opened a bottle of wine.

“She didn’t realise she had drank so much and thought she was okay to drive.”
