A kindhearted beautician is offering free treatments to put a smile back on the faces of those affected by cancer.

Carrie-Anne Gale, 22, will preen and pamper those battling the disease or have family members affected by it.

Once a month she will open the doors to her business The Dolly Box on Buxton Road, Macclesfield, and give up a day’s worth of profits for the benefit of others.

Since asking for nominations via her Facebook page she has been inundated with suggestions.

One of the first to get a well-deserved pampering is Sarah Worthington who cared for her mum Christine before she lost her battle with cancer in January. Sarah, 23, sold her house and moved back in with her mum and younger sister Bridie, 20, to take care of the family.

Sarah, of Delamere Drive, Hurdsfield, was nominated for the treatment by her friend Abi Frost, 22.

Sarah said: “What I did is what so many families of those with cancer do every day. My sacrifice was nothing out of the ordinary but it is lovely that Abi thought of me and Carrie-Anne wants to give something back and offer this to people.”

Christine, a former manager at Tesco on Hibel Road, was diagnosed with bowel cancer is 2013 and despite treatment the cancer returned and spread in 2014.

Sarah, a healthcare assistant at Macclesfield Hospital, had just bought a house with her partner when her mum relapsed.

Sarah said: “Mum was an amazing woman who raised me and my two sisters single-handedly, working all hours to keep a roof over our heads and giving up a lot to make sure we never went without.

“When she became seriously ill I wanted to repay her love and kindness, sold the house and moved back in. We worked as a family to make sure mum’s final days were comfortable.”

Christine’s dying wish was to visit Disneyland and the family were able to take the trip.

Sarah and others will be invited to the first Ladies Pamper Day on October 12 where they will be offered hair cuts, pedicures and manicures, as well as cake and Prosecco.

Carrie-Anne said: “I have always said if I ever opened my own business I would offer that support to those affected by cancer, and try and put a smile on their faces.

“Sarah is the perfect example of someone who deserves it.”
