PLANS for a mother and baby unit will be considered by councillors for a third time.

Members of the east area planning committee decided to have a site visit after hearing about the proposals from the Cradle Concern charity for the home in Macclesfield at their last meeting.

The application had already been refused in May this year but amendments were made to the plans.

Neighbours have expressed concern about possible further expansion, inappropriate use of residential area, increase in noise and disturbance, increase in traffic, parking problems, and a negative effect on existing residents' environment.

The project will provide supervised, semi-independent housing with support for single mothers and their babies who cannot live with a family or partner in preparation for independent tenancy.

After a long discussion at the last meeting councillors decided that a site visit would be the best way forward before making a decision.

Officers have recommended that the application be approved.
