What the hell is going on in Wilmslow? Like Macclesfield, the centre of town has been in decline for years. Inspiration doesn’t come easily and when it does, it needs to be nurtured.

I’m talking about the Wilmslow Artisan Market of course (do you see anything else inspirational in town?). I’ve attended every one and they have been buzzing.

It’s a great atmosphere and come summer you’ll be struggling to make it through the crowds, so quit bitching and work out a plan.

Macclesfield’s Treacle Market operates on Sundays and is always a huge success so switch the Artisan Market to Sunday (obviously not the same Sunday as Treacle).

Come on, guys, how complicated can this be? The Artisan Market draws crowds into Wilmslow town centre, right?

If it interferes with regular trade on Saturday run it on Sunday.

Who knows maybe more shops and cafés will open to take advantage of the increased Sunday footfall?

Don’t kill off the only successful new idea to hit the streets of Wilmslow in years with petty bickering.

I don’t see a queue of brilliant initiatives waiting to replace it.

As for moving it to the leisure centre car park …that’s just daft.

Grab the Artisan Market with both hands and make it work for the benefit of everyone.

It’s a home-grown asset they don’t have at Handforth Dean.

Ain’t that the truth?
